Pumpkin Carving 2011

We carved pumpkins earlier than usually this year, about a week early. Our schedule is so full it seems everything has to be penciled in special! It has been cold enough, I figured the pumpkins wouldn't rot too fast. I would have liked to set them out to enjoy all week, but the white monster that lives in our yard, Spike, loves to EAT pumpkins, and has already destroyed the first 4 pumpkins we bought to set out on the front steps! So the jack-o-lanterns were forced to live in the rubbermaid tote we now leave on the front porch for the mail person or Fed-ex/UPS people to throw our mail and packages in, until Halloween day. Otherwise previously mentioned white monster with shred and destroy anything and everything. Some items he has intercepted: a cell phone, ballet slippers x3, bills, newspapers, magazines. Pretty much anything that comes to our house.
Ella helped with pumpkins last year so I was surprised she kept saying "Eww", and was fussy at first about getting her hands yucky. It was short lived, however, once she saw sister and brother digging in! We even separated the seeds to toast in the oven.

The finished products:
Adia's, Ella's, and John's Jack-o-Lanterns!
